Just some tips…

Through the course of normal conversations here, a few things have occurred to me. And the way I figure it you have two options. You can either…

A. Listen to the guy that quite literally built this place from the ground up by himself, with his own two hands, talks everyday to the suppliers, researched the beds, and then wrote the checks to buy them, purchases all supplies for the store based on what the customers need, ask for, and actually want at rock bottom prices, and is actually here everyday

OR….

B. Or you can go to one of the chains and listen to the 19 year old bleached blonde, (oh but she took a seven hour course on how to sell lotions!) party babe that’s going to spend her weekend at Crobar, or whatever it’s called now… it’s probably “Lightning”, or “Electric” or something super creative like that, getting “roofies” slipped into her drink.

I know which one I’d pick. And frankly if you choose B I’d rather not have to deal with you anyway. Just something to think about.

Get started early

If you know you’re going somewhere, or you have a wedding, or party to go to, don’t wait until the last minute. Everyone tans differently, and tanning beds are not usually a “magic bullet”. For some people, a couple of tans is enough. Others need more time. We have unlimited months so if you can come in a month or so before hand to get started. A tan from a stronger bed can actually take several days to show up completely. But they are “deeper” tans that do last a lot longer.

Try a lotion

Indoor tanning lotions are engineered to work with indoor tanning beds, and can help immensely. It’s not just a scam to take more money from you. We have lotions of every type, with prices that range from “Wow that’s cheap!” to “Who can afford that?!” But they all work. We only reorder stuff that customers have actually bought and said did the job.

Sorry, but you can not use outside lotions. The chemicals they contain damage our beds, and you might have only paid $4.00 at Sally’s, but new acrylics are $500, and our prices are just too low for that.

Be Patient

We are unofficially heading into the busiest time of the year. And we can’t fit 18 people into eight tanning beds all at once. We have totally remodeled the store from top to bottom with extra beds, and power upgrades, you know, the whole bit. But still it might be a few minutes before we can get you in. But lately it hasn’t been more than just a few minutes of waiting. So we’ll see how “the season” goes. Oddly Mondays, and Thursdays tend to be the busiest days, with Wednesday being one of the slowest weekdays. Weekends can be hit or miss. Some are super busy, some are not. It just depends.

Also you must wait 24 hours between sessions. Yes to the minute. If you tan on Monday at 2:34, you have to wait until 2:34 on Tuesday before you can tan again. I know it seems stupid but that is the law in Illinois. We’re required to make you wait. We love our customers, but they’ll take our license if we let you violate that rule so we’re not gonna. Besides coming everyday isn’t really necessary because…

Don’t over do it

Chances are you’re going to think this isn’t doing you any good. But guess what? You’re more tan than you know. But because you see yourself everyday you don’t notice it. But others do. Trust me. It has always been my opinion that a tan is something subtle that you should just notice. It really shouldn’t be the first thing people see. Of course that is entirely up to you and you can be as tan as you like, it’s totally personal. But trust me. It’s working. If you walk into a room, and everybody says…”Wow! You’re really tan!” You’re way to tan. And it isn’t a good look. But hey, if you want it it’s your deal I couldn’t care unless as long as it means you’re spending money in here. I’ll never judge you.

Spray Tanning

Try it! It works! There is a better description on here under “Spray Tanning”. But it works well. In fact it is my job to say it works well, and even I am almost always surprised at how well it works. We’ve only been offering it for a month and we already have repeat customers. In fact because it’s harder for me to actually tan than you might think, I have to come in early or stay late and I’m already here enough thank you, I’m just gonna get sprayed from now on. It’s once every week or two, and it’s done. I don’t have to think about it much after that. Awesome.

These are just some tips. There is more but you have to sorta find what works best for you. Everyone is different. Do what makes you happy. We’re super flexible with specials, and tans so we can do pretty much anything you like. And honestly since our overhead is lower we can be half the price of some of the other guys.
