We place a “level” on the bed according to the strength relative to the beds here. At this location. Most places in fact, will call a tanning bed with two face tanners a “level 2″, one with 3 face tanners a “level 3″ and so on. Really that’s it. I can’t call ETS, or Wolff Tanning Beds and order a “Level 6″ bed. They’d laugh in my face before they asked me what I was talking about. I’m sorry guys there’s just no such thing. Lets pretend for a second that I had four stand up beds available for use. One with lets say, 30 lamps, one with 35, one with 40, and then one with 50 lamps. Guess how they’re gonna be ranked. Go ahead I’ll wait.
( I know, I know you had a friend that worked at L.A. Tan for 6 months and blah, blah, blah she knows… Yeah and she wrote a bunch of checks for a lot of $44,000 tanning beds right?)
That’s right, the one with 30 lamps will be level 1, the one with 50 will be level 4. Just because that is how it works here doesn’t mean it’s gonna be the same somewhere else. The fact is most of the chain salons have conditioned people, somehow, to believe in some esoteric “leveling” system for tanning beds. I know you probably don’t believe me. I’ll tell you what. If you want, come in and I’ll call our supplier and let you talk to them. When they ask what you want, tell them you want to order a “Level 4 tanning bed”. I can save you a lot of trouble. Their answer is gonna be “Huh?”
I know it sucks. But I’m not here to lie to you. If you insist on knowing what “level” a bed is I’ll tell you. And even if I did how would you know? I can’t continue lying into peoples faces anymore. If my telling you this is bad for business I’ll take it down. Believe me, and I will continue to tell people what they want to hear.
